Volunteering

There is always a need for volunteers in our community and the ROC is no exception.

The operations of the ROC are overseen by a Governing Board of Directors, made up of community volunteers. There are also opportunities for volunteers to be a member of a sub-committee or to get involved in individual activities and events.

ROC Board of Directors has lots of active sub-committees that may interest you:

  • Sustainability
  • Community Events
  • Executive
  • Finance
  • Governance
  • Human Resource
  • Marketing and Communications
  • In 2011 -2012 we will add an Occupational Health and Safety committee, a Seniors sub-committee and a Youth Sub-committee.

If you or someone you know would like to put your name forward to become a volunteer, please contact Barb Allen 852-2622 or barb@prospectcommunities.com

Volunteer at the Terence Bay C@P Site location:

The ROC welcomes support from volunteers in the role of Site Supervisors. A Site Supervisor would work out of our Terence Bay location allowing us to provide extended hours of public access to our C@P Site. Site Supervisors perform light office duties, provide a welcoming environment to users, answer phones, take messages and provide assistance upon request. If you are interested in becoming a Site Supervisor, please contact Jason Bungay at jason@prospectcommunities.com or by phone at 852-2622.

Volunteer instructors allow the ROC to offer a wide range of learning opportunities in the community. If you would like to offer your services as a volunteer instructor at the Terence Bay C@P Site, please contact Jason Bungay at jason@prospectcommunities.com

Volunteer with other local groups and organizations:

The Prospect Communities are very fortunate to have numerous grass roots community organization, as well as many local institutions that rely on volunteers to help them work toward a stronger healthier community for all residents of communities between Goodwood and West Dover in Western HRM, Nova Scotia. For a detailed list of community groups and organizations, visit http://prospectcommunities.com/directory

prospectcommunities.com:

We encourage residents to learn how to post information to our community web portal. The more individuals who contribute to the content of prospectcommunities.com, the better. For more information in posting content, please contact Jason Bungay at jason@prospectcommunities.com

Volunteers in the area are connected to each other, the general population, community groups, local news and information, through an interactive on-line web portal, that has become a valuable community resource and an effective, smart and cost effective means of communication that comes from the ground up.

Through the Community web portal prospectcommunities.com the ROC is able to share our resources with other non profits and promote learning opportunities such as volunteer conferences, workshops and volunteer recognition and appreciation ideas.

Also through the web portal prospectcommunities.com we celebrate the many successes of our volunteer organizations and the community at large. We feature articles on the value of volunteers and are passionate advocates for community based non-profits.

Volunteer groups are encouraged and supported to post articles and updates, invite residents to public meetings and to join their efforts.

It is because of this open and accessible exchange of information that residents have a means to be well informed, involved and supportive of volunteer efforts and initiative that make the Prospect Communities a great place to live.
